TELL ME

The nice thing about the "tell me" program is that it teaches the child to think of different answers. The answers are not as rote as some of the other programs and can vary from session to session. It is helpful to have a way to indicate to the child how many answers you are expecting. One can use a token board as this works well. You would set the token board up so that the child would receive 1 token per correct answer. I would not advise using a token board with 10 spots available if you want three answers from the child. So you may need several token boards. I would advise doing this program as soon as the child has a few labels and continue throughout programming. If the child knows colors you can hold up an object he knows and say tell me about it and the child might say green. You can elaborate "its green and you eat it" The most important thing here is that the child is giving you the answers independently. So you may hold up a banana and the child might say yellow but you know he has learned how to say it in a whole sentence in another program, the answer is still scored correctly.

Tell me (three) things about

banana................... its yellow, you eat it, you can peel it.
shoe........................ clothing, put on foot,
dog.......................... animal, furry, barks, pet,
cup........................... put juice in it, drink from it, its plastic
book........................ read it, story,

Tell me (food)

Tell me a food that is a fruit.
Tell me a food that is yellow and you peel it to eat it.
Tell me a food that is red and crunchy when you bite into it.
Tell me a food that is a vegetable.
Tell me a food that you might eat at a birthday party.
Tell me something you could eat for breakfast.
Tell me something you could eat for dinner
Tell me a food you eat with a spoon, is cold and can melt.
Tell me a food you can eat in a cone, is cold and can melt.
