PECS PECS stands for Picture Exchange Communication System. It was developed by Bondy and Frost. For more information you can go to their web site. Having personally used this program I personally recommend it for any child who is not yet talking and any adult who does not yet have in place a communication system. Also do not be confused when a teacher tells you that they use PECS double check that they don't mean that they just use the icons which would not be PECS. In its most basic form a student learns how to exchange a picture of something they want with another person to get a desired object or action.
